GOV UDUAGHAN IN NEW YORK, UNFOLDS MASTERSPLAN Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan (right)and former World Bank President, Mr. James Wolfensohnat the THISDAY Global Summit in New York. Delta State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, has unfolded a Masterplan for the accelerated development and transformation of Delta State into a global investment destination for all nations of the world. Making a presentation in New York at the Global Summit on "Nigeria Meets the World", Governor Uduaghan said his administration is committed to building a greater Delta State that looks beyond the rich oil and Gas concentration in the State, stressing that the result of the three-point agenda of his government will be the emergence of a vibrant Delta state with a vibrant and strong economy that would compete favourably with developed economies of the world. He said: "We have started working in Delta State to enable us compete with other vibrant economies of world." In his presentation at the Global Summit on "Nigeria Meets the World" held at the prestigious Waldorf Astoria hotel, venue of the event, Uduaghan called on the international community, especially potential and real investors to invest in Delta State because " we have created a peaceful and stable environment, thereby ensuring that we currently have in place an enabling environment for businesses and industries to thrive." He added: " We are addressing three critical issues which form the focal points of my administration. These are Peace and Security, Human Capital Development and Infrastructural Development. On Peace and Security, we set up a committee of stakeholders to look into security at the waterways. And we are engaging citizens resident in the creeks in continuous dialogue to ensure safety." On Human Capital development, he maintained that “as a state we are committed to building capacity of the workforce while redressing issues of unemployment and setting up small businesses and micro-credit schemes for Deltans."
