Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan has commissioned a Multi- Million Naira Electricity project for Okpe-lsoko community in Isoko North L.G.A which has lacked electricity for decades.

Dr. Uduaghan who said the project was in fulfillment of his electoral promise to the community as well as to expand the frontiers of economic development in the area explained that artisans in the area would now have access to electricity.

The governor commended the community for its patience and appealed that the project be protected. He informed the community of the Free Health Care for pregnant mothers and children less than five years and urged them to resist attempts by health care practitioners in state government hospitals to demand for money before attending to them.

He told the people that the state government now pays WAEC and NECO examination fees for students in senior secondary schools and advised the people to resist demand for money by heads of schools in the community.

Following complaints from the indigenes that authorities of secondary schools in the area- Okpe-lsoko Grammar School-collect money for WAEC and NECO examination fees, Governor Uduaghan directed an investigation into the issue and stressed that any principal caught contravening the free enrolment policy will be punished.

In a welcome address, the State Commissioner for Power and Energy, Comrade Ovuozorie Macaulay said the project has broken the jinx of the community’s struggle for electricity.

He appealed to the people to reciprocate government gesture by supporting the development of the community.

In a related development the State Governor, Dr. Uduaghan also commissioned a Television viewing centre in Ozoro, headquarters of lsoko North Local Government Area.

He described the viewing centre as a valuable entertainment and information project particularly during the FIFA World Cup and charged members of the public not to vandalise it.
