NLC PRESIDENT LAUDS UDUAGHAN ON INFRASTRRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT

Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) President, Abdulwaheed Omar and President of National Union of Food Beverages and Tobacco Employees (NUFBTE), Lateef Oyelekan have commanded Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan for giving Delta State a facelift.
Omar and Oyelekan, who spoke when they jointly paid the Governor a courtesy call in Asaba, at the weekend, said they were amazed at the level of infrastructural development going on in the state.

While Omar said activities on ground showed the zeal and commitment of Dr. Uduaghan to turn things around in the state, Oyelekan said the Governor’s achievement within the short space of time demonstrates his love for his people.

Oyelekan who led the executive of National Union of Food Beverages and Tobacco Employees to the visit said Dr. Uduaghan has greatly transformed the state and turned the pages of history in their favour.

Explaining that he has read about the achievements of the Governor, the labour leader outlined the projects he read about to include, the airport, streetlight, good network of roads, electricity’s and bridges among others.

Oyelekan who commended the steadfastness and vision of the Governor said his union plans to establish a branch of Solidarity Infinity Venture Limited in Asaba where products will be sold directly on wholesale and retail to the public at moderate prices.

He also disclosed that his Union will establish its regional office and a guest house in Asaba.

The NLC President on his part said beside the general achievement of the governor he was particularly impressed by the goodwill and rapport existing between labour and the State Government

Omar said friendly relation between Labour and Government will boast the morale and enhance workers' productivity.

In his remarks, Governor Uduaghan commended labour Unions for stabilising the polity in the country noting that labour's contribution to the survival of democracy in the country has been remarkable.

He said the entire workforce have shown reasonable commitment even stressing that that workers' steadfastness towards the growth of democracy has discouraged people from truncating the civilian administration.

Dr. Uduaghan said in spite of hiccups and some constitutional problems witnessed some months ago, democracy survived. Accordingly, he charged labour leaders in the country not to be deterred but continue to serve as vanguards for the survival of democracy.

Dr. Uduaghan who promised to promote issues that would improve the welfare of workers said he would always be on the side of labour.

He approved a parcel of land in Asaba for NUFBTE to establish a zonal office.
