| DELTA STATE GOVERNOR, DR. EMMANUEL UDUAGHAN (MIDDLE), SPEAKER, DELTA STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY, HON. MARTIN OKONTA (RIGHT) AND CLERK OF THE HOUSE, MR. RAYMOND YAVBIERI, WHEN THE GOVERNOR SIGNED THE 2010 BUDGET AT GOVERNMENT HOUSE, ASABA. |
Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, has signed the 2010 Appropriation Bill into law.
The governor, who assented to the bill presented to him by the Clerk of the State House of Assembly, Mr. Raymond Yavbieri, at the weekend in Asaba, said the 2010 budget of N332 billion would be judiciously implemented to fast track the dividends of democracy in the state.
He cautioned those spreading rumours over the delay in signing the budget, adding that it should not be politicized as a budget could only be signed when it is ready.
Speaking further, the governor refuted reports that he refused to sign the 2010 budget, saying “the budget was not signed because it was not ready”. According to him, “Government is running and we are still paying contractors; so I don’t see any reason why it should be a political issues.”
The budget is made up of recurrent expenditure of N115 billion and capital expenditure of N218 billion.
The governor said: “I assure you that with this budget, we will fast track our developmental activities for the benefit of Deltans.
The governor had on December 9, 2009 presented a budget proposal of N225.71 billion to the state House of Assembly for the 2010 fiscal year.
