• ENDORSES HIM FOR SECOND TENURE
“Never has it been seen or heard of that a galaxy of Aniomas ever gathered together under one accord and one resolve to do an honour to someone as a result of good performance in governance.”

With these words from the National President of Izu Anioma, Chief Nduka Okwechime, history was made weekend as serving Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan got the first ever gathering of salute from the Aniomas since the creation of the state at a reception and a carnival to drum up support and formally endorsed him for a second term during the 2011 gubernatorial election in the state. The event took place at the Cenotaph, Asaba.

He lauded the developmental stride of Uduaghan saying his policies has brought Delta State to the worlds center stage, pleading with the nine Local Government Area Council Chairmen in Anioma and the political class to invest into the Izu Anioma OPL 275 deal, reduce the momentum for personal aggrandizement as an effort to ensure a fairly equitable distribution of resources and through it to restore a regime of peace and satisfaction in which to enjoy their gains.

He said, “ the whole Anioma people , under the auspices of Izu Anioma backed up majestically by almost 100 percent Ofor staff of office , the towering symbol of authorities of our royal fathers , the solidarity support of our community development unions , the glamorous , yet indomitable fraternity of our Anioma Women group , the irrepressive Anioma youth organization are here to give honour to whom honour is due. We are here to celebrate Uduaghan to celebrate our civilization, hence ventilate the philosophical plank under which his less than three years old administration has impacted positively on the lives of our people.”

In his address of welcome, the chairman of the occasion, His Royal Majesty Obi (Dr.) Emmanuel O. Efeizomor, Obi of Owa, attributed the unique occasion to the laudable performance of the governor in the area of human, capital and infrastructural development coupled with the peace and security initiatives that pervades the entire state.

Responding, Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan in an emotional mood said the hosting was a joy to his family, “it is a great joy and honour being done to me, God has a reason for it”, adding that “what we are doing in Delta North is what is due to them. I must do what is due to each senatorial district. I must develop Asaba for remaining peaceful because once there is peace, there is development. But if you continue to give me trouble, it will be difficult for me to develop your area. Na message I send o o!”

Governor said that the sum of N1.5 billion has been set aside for disbursement to various indigent farmers and the lower spectrum across the state as micro- credit loans to boost their business financial base.

Uduaghan said the need to make the funds available to the people became necessary because of the increasing number of people who stand ready to collect the loan from state government micro-credit scheme to expand their business outfits.

Uduaghan also said the state government has procured additional 200 16-Seater buses to boost the state intra-city transport services in the state in addition to the taxis already in use, adding: “Not only Governor, deputy, speaker and others should drive in air-condition cars, even market women, students, apprentices and all Deltans should enjoy air-condition cars and buses too.”

He said the state government has commenced free medical services for children under the age of five years.

Speaking on the Asaba International Airport that is nearing completion, Governor Uduaghan said: “Pressures are more on me across the Niger to finish the Asaba International Airport than even Deltans. Deltans from other senatorial district will also benefit despite that the Airport is sited in Delta North”

He pledged his administration’s readiness to spread even development to all parts of Anioma communities , Aniocha North and South , Ika North- East and South, Ndokwa East and West , Ukwuani and Oshimili North and South, adding the people have contributed to the realization of his administration’s agenda especially in the areas of peace and security within their localities.

He used the occasion to tell Deltans especially the political elite to eschew bitterness and rancor with a view to installing a lasting democratic rule in the country, just a he said the electoral reform would work effectively if the electorate and political office seekers complied with the rule.
