ASABA AIRPORT TO BEGIN OPERATIONS IN SIX WEEKS, SAYS UDUAGHAN

The Asaba International Airport being constructed by the Delta State Government will begin operations in six weeks time, Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan has disclosed.
The Governor who announced this while inspecting the airport said work has moved more than imagined and aircraft will start landing within the next six weeks.
Dr. Uduaghan who expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work said he was hopeful that the six weeks period was realistic because all the equipment needed were on ground.
I am quite happy with the pace of work at the airport, a lot have been done since the last time I visited here, we seem to be moving faster than the deadline and in the next six weeks aircraft can land in the airport, he said.
The governor who also inspected the Asaba -Ughelli dualization project said he cannot be specific on completion date since road construction was dependent on such factors as weather and funds.
Explaining that the dualization of the road to Ughelli was divided into three sections and awarded to three contractors saying I am putting pressure on the contractors working on the road and I believed they will deliver.
He said the project was being funded with internally generated revenue and gave assurance that the project was central to the economic and infrastructural development of the state.
Dr. Uduaghan also inspected the New Secretariat / SUBEB road under construction and commended ULO for the solid work.
The Governor also inspected the new Government House Complex where he assessed the progress of work.
Responding the Chief Executive Officer of ULO Consult, Chief Uche Okpuno promised that he would continue to carryout quality work to meet the required specifications. I will continue to perform quality work, everything we need to complete the work at the airport is already on ground and we are working to meet the specifications, he said.
Work is going on day and night at the airport while the fixing of glass on the terminal building will be completed within weeks, he said, adding that, as a compliment for the Asaba airport, eight lanes that will run for six kilometers at the Asaba Ughelli road dualization will terminate at the Ibusa junction along Benin- Asaba express way.
