Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan has declared that no state owned tertiary institution belong to any ethnic group or community saying: “Every state owned higher institution belongs to the whole of Delta.”

Dr. Uduaghan who made the declaration while swearing-in members of the governing councils of government owned tertiary institution in Asaba said that a lot of friction was generated in the past within the institutions and was unhealthy for the growth of the state.

“No institution in the state belongs to any community or ethnic group. Everybody in Delta State has equal right to any institution in the state for ethnic harmony to prevail,” he said.

The governor explained that the governing councils of the state owned tertiary institutions were reconstituted not for any political undertone but to reduce the friction caused by council members with their interference in the affairs of the boards.

He warned that the state government will not tolerate any form of wrangling and ill-fighting among board members.

Governor Uduaghan noted that the members were appointed based on their professionalism, wealth of experience and dedication to duty and urged them to develop cordial relationship among members, host communities and students.

Governor Uduaghan specifically noted that he appointed Rev. Fr. Buchi Aninye as the Chairman of Scholarship board because of the great challenges in the board which he explained requires a spiritually innocent person to deal with such challenges.

Barrister Mrs. Josephine Ada Kachikwu was sworn in as a member of the State House of Assembly Service Commission while the Chairmen for the governing board include Professor Gabriel Yomere, Delta State Polytechnic Ozoro, Prof. Abednego Ekoko, delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, Dr. Steve Oru, Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara, Dr. Mrs. Elizabeth Ubini, College of Education Warri, Prof. Pat.
