WHY WE ARE REHABILITATING FEDERAL ROADS IN DELTA-UDUAGHAN GOVERNOR EMMANUEL UDUAGHAN FLANKED BY DIRECTOR-GENERAL, DIRECT LABOUR AGENCY, HON. OVIE AGAS (RIGHT) AND COMMISSIONER FOR ENVIRONMENT, BELLO ORUBEBE, WHILE INSPECTING REHABILITATION WORK AT THE DSC/EFFURUN ROUNDABOUT. Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan has said the state government embarked on the rehabilitation of all roads including Federal Government owned roads in the state out of concern for good roads and safety of the people. The governor who stated this while inspecting the State Direct Labour Agency (DLA) rehabilitation work on the D.S.C round-about Effurun, said the state government embarked on the repair of the road because of its benefits to the people. He said: “Although it is a Federal Government road, but it is right in Delta State, and if you wait for the Federal Government, the roads will never be done. A lot of our people pass were, the people do not understand they are Federal Government roads, actually, FERMA should have been working on this road, that is what it was created for, but we have our D.L.A, we asked D.L.A intervene on this road. “We are not expecting refund, if you wait for refund you will never do anything. If they make refund, okay, if they don’t, we will still go ahead with our projects. We have mandated the D.L.A to do all the roads in the state that are bad, because D.L.A was set up as an intervention list body,” he said. The governor however criticized the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency, FERMA for abandoning its duty of maintaining all Federal Government Roads in the State. He stressed the commitment of the state through the D.L.A to rehabilitate all roads in the state. The State DLA Roads Maintenance Manager, Mr. Edwin Edewor told the governor that the DSC round-about rehabilitation work included the laying of asphalt, which he said was almost completed.
