UDUAGHAN MOURNS CHIEF IMAM OF ASABA

Delta State governor, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan has commiserated with the Muslim Community and particularly the family of Late Chief Imam of Asaba, Alhaji Haruna Rabiu, over the Chief Imam’s death on Thursday at the age of 85 years.

In a condolence message, the governor noted that though death was generally a saddening occurrence, the people should take solace in the fact that late Alhaji Rabiu lived a fulfilled life that impacted positively on his environment.

He recalled that for the about 20 years that the late Alhaji Rabiu was chief Imam of Asaba, there was peace within the Muslim Community as well as harmonious relationship between the Muslim Community and Christians in Asaba.

“The late Chief Imam was an apostle of peace. All through the period he was Chief Imam, he promoted peace within the Muslim Community, and between Muslim Community and Christian Community in the state … he was a spiritual leader and a great Islamic scholar respected across the country”, he stated.

Besides, Governor Uduaghan said that the late Chief Imam ensured cordial relationship between the Muslim and the state government which in turn brought about progress to the people.

The governor prayed God Almighty to grant his soul eternal rest as well as grant the family and the Muslim community the fortitude to bear the loss.
