MEDICAL TOURISM IS BIG BUSINESS, SAYS UDUAGHAN, COMMISSIONS FERTILITY CENTRE

Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan has reiterated the Delta State government’s commitment to introducing medical tourism to the state for economic development, saying it is big but untapped business.
The Governor who stated this when he commissioned the Nordica Fertility Clinic in Asaba said the state was investing heavily on medical facilities/ treatment for the benefit of Deltans.
“ Medical Tourism is a big business; the state is taking the issue important. A lot of people travel to Singapore for medical reason; this has helped to boost their economy of the country. The benefit of this clinic will extend beyond this clinic to other parts of the state,” Dr. Uduaghan said.
The Governor assured the management of the clinic of his administration’s support for the success of the clinic as it would reduce the plight of couples finding it difficult to have their own children and contribute to the development of the state.
He said that the centre was well equipped to meet the needs of the people and can compete with such centres in other parts of the country.
In an address, the Chief Operating Officer of the clinic, Dr. Abayomi Ajayi said the centre was first established in the country ( Lagos) in February 2003 and over 400 children have been born in the clinic.
He commended the Delta State Government for the public/private sector initiative adding that the clinic would actualize the dream of the government on medical tourism and contribute her quota to its success.
Dr. Abayomi noted that the clinic have quality equipments to provide effective service delivery and aid couples finding it difficult to have their own children.
