His Majesty, Keagborekuzi 1 the Dein of Agbor.
The Dein of Agbor Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Keagborekuzi 1, in a rare show of affection and solidarity has expressed support for Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for Delta state, and his running mate, Professor Amos Utuama in the April 14, 2007 governorship election in Delta state.

The royal father made his position known when Dr. Uduaghan and his deputy, led other party leaders on a consultative visit to the palace of the Dein, during which the PDP standard bearer unveiled his plans for the people of the state and the royal institution in particular.

An elated Dein could not hide his emotions as he openly hugged the candidate and declared that Dr Uduaghan was “My friend”, recalling the latter’s tenure as the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), which he noted was very fruitful and helped to engender peace in the state. Said he: “I want to say it very clearly. This (Uduaghan) is my friend. You know I am not a politician. I don’t play politics. But I am not ashamed to say that he is my friend. And I congratulate PDP for making such a wise choice”.

The traditional ruler expressed hope that the flag bearer would emerge victorious in the polls, adding that he was sure that if that happened, Delta state would move forward and that the people would be happy. Earlier, Dr. Uduaghan had noted with pride the contributions of the royal majesty to his success as SSG, revealing that the Dein gave him invaluable advises that helped to make his job very easy and expressed the hope that he would continue to do same if he becomes governor of Delta state by May 29, 2007.

The PDP candidate commended the traditional ruler for enthroning a regime of peace and development in the Agbor kingdom, noting that rather than preside over a divided house the Dein has not only promoted unity in his domain, but has also been extending same to other kingdoms in the state. Dr Uduaghan said the royal institution would occupy a place of pride in his administration, while pledging to tackle the erosion menace in Agbor and its environs.

He also used the occasion to commend Mr. Tony Obuh, a son of the soil and permanent secretary in the office of the SSG, who he said helped in no small way to make his tenure very successful. Dr. Uduaghan said there was no doubt that every part of the state would be affected positively if he is elected governor on April 14 and assured that his three point agenda would help to reduce suspicions among ethnic groups, empower women and the youths for the better.
